Sharifah Zohra Jabeen Syed Shah Miskin: The Art of Speaking (and Listen!)

Read full version by clicking on image.
So here I come again as an opportunist blogger. AHEM *clears throat* Not for this case. As a person who is known for my straightforward characteristic, I cannot help myself from thinking, and voicing opinions about this incident.

Here's a summary of the incident which I am going to share my views about. (It is all over the web, just "google" Sharifah Zohra and you have tonnes to read about). If you don't bother reading the tonnes of news and blogs out there, just stick to my summary here: -
Note: I only saw a portion of the clip of the forum, not the full forum.

SUMMARY: During a forum in UUM, a student, Bavani KS was speaking very loudly in the middle of the hall, with a list of questions on Bersih (mass gathering/public demonstration), free education from pre-school to the first degree (which was being implemented in other countries, examples given by Bavani). And meanwhile, one of the panelists, Ms. Sharifah herself, stood in front of Bavani, trying to interrupt the questions from Bavani. While Bavani was pausing for breath, Ms. Sharifah took the microphone stand away from Bavani, preventing her to continue further, said a very loud and firm LISTEN for eleven times! and said let me speak for another 7 times. Despite being shaken, Bavani shook her hands, and then Ms. Sharifah started talking about respect. After talking about respect, Ms. Sharifah said she does not have the obligation to reply Bavani's questions, due to her bad attitude. But, continued to reply Bavani's speech, and starts to bash Bavani with "if you are not happy with Malaysia, what are you doing here?", implying that the people are happy with the government's arrangement, hence, if she's not happy, she ought to move to other country. Then Ms. Sharifah speaks about animals and their problems, and commented about Bavani's lack of education. Not too long after that, Bavani flashed a smile and exited the hall, with Ms. Sharifah wishing Bavani, best of luck in the future.

Let me gently describe how I feel when I watched the clip.
  1. Bavani have a very high pitch voice, and she was full with nervousness. Her public speaking skills were quite bad, with very arrogant-like gestures (hands raised up when asking questions), as though challenging the authority.(This, she needs to improve herself. A charismatic speaker is one that convinces with words and convincing, yet humble body language).
  2. But, above all, I listen to her points and was impressed with the issues she bring forward. She did her homework.
  3. Then, Ms. Sharifah again and again trying to shut Bavani up, and I raised my eyebrow when she took the microphone away. And I taken by surprise when she repeated LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN so maaaany times (11x). Then she started talking, initially I thought she was the emcee because she was down there, rather than on the stage. Then when she started to "reply" Bavani, her replies were of insults-like, intimidating Bavani, and also the animals came out as well. (Animals have problem), which, practically, never reply any of Bavani's question and unrelated to context. It is a no wonder that this incident became a public uproar.

Of course, I dare not to challenge Ms. Sharifah (because of her high inteligence and a degree holder, fuhyoh). I am also not here to defend any one of them. I'm writing this, because I am ashamed by the audience in the forum. When Bavani speak, they yell and applaud. When Ms. Sharifah bashed Bavani, they applaud. This is why, again and again,  I feel the society is SICK. Oh, please don't get me wrong, I do not oppose people with different thinkings and opinions. It is true, that some of the audience may side with Ms. Sharifah, and some, with Bavani. But people, no matter which side are you on, you have at least the very intelligence to distinguish RIGHT and WRONG. BETUL atau SALAH, with reasonings, of course.

This scenario also tells me that some people, just love trouble; creating trouble, or making it worse. When they sense trouble brewing, they purposely go stir and make things worst. Here's another experience I have encountered, which I would like to share:-

Man A exited a taxi without paying, and Taxi Driver rushed out of the cab to chase after the man. Man B (passer by) had tarpau'ed his food and saw the chase. Man C was another passerby who passed by the area. Taxi Driver pulls Man A, demanding for his taxi fare. Man A pushed Taxi Driver. Taxi Driver fell down. Man B puts down his food on the roadside, and rushes to Taxi Driver and started hitting him. Man C came as well, all 3 men started hitting Taxi Driver. Taxi Driver runs to his taxi, with a bloodied nose,  and then Man C continue walking, while Man B took his food, and left for home. Man A, B, and C did not know each other.

So, am I wrong to say the society is sick? 3 vs 1. and We all know who is morally right. But what's the point of being morally right, when the majority is morally wrong? Good vs Evil, and good always win? Sorry people, that is not always the case.

Hence, when I see the audience clapping and cheering at the speech of Ms. Sharifah when she was speaking about shark-fin's problem, dogs problems, cats problems, my heart was really aching. How can you cheer for a such STUPID statement coming out from the mouth of the self-claimed degree holder? Furthermore, it is a forum, and a very professional conduct should be practiced. Rather than giving feedbacks and sharing opinions as in what forums usually are, I find Ms. Sharifah getting carried away with her speech of animals and as though she's rallying for supporters.

Well, I did not intend to critisize anyone but I guess I just did. Told ya that I'm a very straightforward person XD. Anyway, I do have to apologise if my write-ups offended any persons or animals.

Here's a quote that I want to share:

Guide to Marriage Registration in Buddhist Temple,Malaysia

For everyone, there will come a day when a new chapter of life to begin. This will be the day when two individuals will reunite for an everlasting life together. Here is what happens after the proposal and I spent several weeks, made many phone calls and I find that it is very troublesome. Hence, here comes this blogpost where I would like to document my experience in handling and preparing my ROM (Registration of Marriage).

Me and my fiance had our ROM in Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple in KL on 30th December 2012. And here's how the whole process go about:-

Disclaimer: This guide was prepared in 2012/2013 (and valid as of date), and only applicable if both the couple are Malaysian with valid IC, above 21 years old of age. I hold no responsibility if there is any changes in the registration of marriage process or any fees incurred.

Step 1: Obtain Form JPN.KC02 from JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara. website here).
Although it is stated that the forms can be downloaded for use, I called the JPN and was informed that usage of original form is preferred. Hence, you can visit the nearest JPN branch available (see here) to obtain the form. Or, the form can be obtained from temple itself (please call to check). I got mine from JPN Puchong Utama.

Step 2: Oath
Finding a Commissioner of Oath is a pain in the ass like finding needle in a haystack. But not for you, because I have found a "search" page for Commissioner of Oath and you can just call up and make appointment with them.(link here)
*Note: Put the city which you lived in as keyword,  current year, select "private" for and choose your state.

For mine, I found a very friendly officer, Mr. Chelappah a/l Ramasamy in Kompleks Puchong Perdana (1st floor). [Fees for oath: RM10.00]

**Note: If you intend to have your ROM in JPN itself, you do NOT need to get the Oath. Please refer to the JPN officer when you get the form.

Step 3: Submit Form JPN.KC02.
Now that the oath is done, all you need to do is submit the form (complete with oath + 1 copy of passport sized photo sticked onto it) to the JPN branch. [Fee for JPN stamp of approval: RM20].

Step 4: Go to the Chosen ROM Venue for Application and Booking of ROM Session.
As I have mention, I have chosen the Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple. So, after getting my approval from JPN, I immediately head there to book the specific date.  *Note: please choose your desired date first.
Documents to bring:-
1. Photocopy of IC each (for the couple).
2. Photocopy of IC for each witness (one for guy, one for girl) *Must be above 21 years old.

[Fee for ROM at Maha Vihara: RM99]

OK done for now. Wait until 4 days before the wedding and the temple will call you to double confirm your ROM date and time.

* after 1 month*

Step 5: ROM Day
The day has finally come. My ROM is at 2pm onwards (first come first served basis).
REMEMBER to bring:
1. ORIGINAL IC (for couple and witnesses)
2. Some flowers, jossticks, candles, and fruits for the blessing ceremony in the temple.
3. Wedding rings.
4. Camera or photographer ^.^

*Note: Dress code: proper and neat. No jeans or slippers are allowed. Since this is, after all a temple, please dress respectfully.

Head on to the office to get your queue number. On my day, there was 5 couples and thank God that I am the first ^^.
So basically the Assistant Registrar will read out aloud the "don't know what you call that". Then he will instruct you to exchange rings, and kiss the bride.

Then sign 3 copies of "contract" that binds the two persons together. Tadaaaa... It's done! Officially married now XD!!

After that, we head to the main shrine for blessing ceremony. The monk will give some advice on what marriage is all about, and I still remember he told us about, COOPERATION, RESPECT, COMMUNICATION, and er... (lol 2 more I have forgotten, I better ask my fiance later)

Our friends and family also participated in the blessing ceremony.

That is all for the ROM process!

Special thanks to:-
Venue: Buddhist Maha Vihara, Jalan Berhala, Brickfields (website here).
Very helpful officers, staff, and monks. I love the shrine, and it is indeed a memorable moment for me to be in the temple.

Despite informing me that this is the 1st time for him photoshooting ROM, he did a great job in capturing our special moments. I love the spontaneity of some of his photographs and also the radiant colours! [ROM photography fee for 2 hours starting RM600 onwards] *Selangor and KL rate
P/s This guy is my good buddy, drop  me a note if you want to engage him and I can help you ask him for some discount =) *i will try my best*

I hope this blog post is helpful to others who are planning to tie a knot soon.

Unimates Gathering @ Fullhouse Sunway Pyramid

Here comes the 2013 University Mates Gathering!!! I believe that as everyone had known by now, gatherings are hard to come by. It is really difficult to gather more than 5 persons for a meet up or yumcha session. But this time, Tracy had the honor of organizing a gathering in Sunway Pyramid. She was pessimistic about the outcome, but yeay! It was deemed a success as we lingered more than 1 hour (as predicted) and have participants of erm..9 persons.

Good job Tracy!

Heading for gatherings are also quite stressful, especially it is this time to catch up with my peers. Some, being happily and blissfully married, while some, remained successfully single. And naturally, you tend to compare yourself with others. *emo*

But anyway, I gathered up my courage to attend the gathering, in my bright pink, dirty slippers because I forgotten that I do not have a shoe in XeROz's car. And he laughed at me all the way because it looks really "ahjumma" style.

WORSE STILL, friends look at me from TOP to TOE and speculated that I am...pregnant! (coz my top is loose, and slippers -___-")

Of course I denied! But they said "it's ok, cant announce before 1st trimester, so we understand"
Denial rejected. First time I encounter such situation! (Mischievious Charmaine to be blamed for this)
Newly wed Rosemary~!! She's glowing in bliss. And NO, I am NOT preggy. Next gathering I will wear stilletos and tight lycra dress to essentuate my curves fats (HAH!)

We also have the most kind, sporting male friend here...None other than Kien Weng.

In our next gathering, I hope to see Kien Weng bringing his other half. GAMBATTE!!! Please divorce your computer and get a REAL gf ok, bro?

And here's forever skinny Yeni (oh my her name rhymes with the adjective). So let me make her a poem:
Skinny Yeni always stay pretty,
Skinny Yeni please get marry...

A group photo worth framing for~!
So there's a total of 9 of us:
Pei Ying (not in photo), Susan, Tracy, Me, Charmaine, Irene, Rosemary, Yeni & Kien Weng (photographer)

Fullhouse is a well-known boutique cafe, but to be honest, the food and service deteriorate that we TOTALLY find their service horrible that we would like to request a refund on service charge!

The drinks are served slow. I ordered the flower-tea which used to be served in teapots and now being served in a cup. And when I asked for a refill, the serve me with another cup of warm water (MEANS NO REFILL???) WTH! Charging me RM6.90 for a cup of non refillable flower tea! OK I'll keep in mine to bring my own HOT WATER FLASK next time. That also IF I EVER BOTHER TO COME.
Come on la Fullhouse, how much does it cost for a hot water? *tak steady langsung*

We ordered french fries and chicken nuggets. I wonder why the nuggets are sourish, and the fries...erm.. there's 9 of us and the fries even have leftover. I don't know how to describe the taste... KERAS fits the description.

Anyway, next time gathering we should find other place - am thinking of Korean BBQ, or some other place with generous refills and good service!

Why People Love Sports?

Hmm..yesterday, as I have mentioned XD I went for a badminton session (P/s All photos are captured using handphone, please forgive the blurness!).

It is a plain fact that I have no sports talent, or interest... kekeke... I don't even own a badminton racquet. All I own erm...sports equipment is... erm... swimming suit?

So yesterday is indeed a memorable day because it is my first time holding badminton racquet in 7 years. In my whole life, I only held racquets like ..erm...*think* erm.... less than 10 times. Not that I am proud of hahahah. Yupz, it is also my first time in The Challenger Sports Center @ Taman Cuepacs, Cheras.  This sports center is really huge, and there are many badminton courts inside.

And today my right arm is aching T_T
I don't even know whether my arm is aching due to badminton, or due to taking the buckets of water. The condition is really stressful in Ampang, as the water supply is not restored yet.

Before sports

Anyway, as much as I feel nauseated with the stench of people's sweat, it still fascinates me on why people love sports so much?

After sports
OMG!!! Now i know why Dato' Lee Chong Wei have this look! HAHAHAHA....

Anyway, I have committed to another badminton session next week. ^.^ So lets see whether I can lose weight by playing more sports XD

Current weight: 53kg

Come on babeh... give me motivation!

Badminton Is Fun!

Here's how I spend the 1st Friday of 2013. And this also happens to be my 1st time holding a badminton racquet in 7 years!

I never liked badminton! I never had liked badminton. Why?  Main reason is the high speed case to hit the shuttlecock.  Secondly is the neck ache, Thirdly is the right hand ache. Hahaha... Very typical of me, I am basically anti-sports.

But not today...
I enjoyed every "reply" I managed to make (not many though).
I enjoyed picking up the shuttlecocks. (many, many times).
Most importantly, i enjoyed every sweat that flow on my skin. (credits to Rachel Koko for teaching me how to enjoy a dip in my own sweat)

My hands are shaking as I'm typing this post using my phone. Tomorrow I will rise with an arm aching XD

What a fun night!!!!

Thursday, January 3

It is already 1:27am and I still haven't fell asleep. Today I went for my first Tui Na massage, which I really want to share my experience here but let us keep that sharing for some other time.

Just as I thought I could relax and watch Episode 9 of Friendly Fire (new TVB drama about love, justice and comedy) XeRoz and his brother popped out of no where! No actually I was chased by a huge bee from Wern's room so I rush to the toilet and bathed.

What an adventurous night, I wonder what happened to the bee? I hope it have left Wern's room otherwise as she is sleeping, the bee might build a hive on her buttockz haha then the next morning she would have a bee-hived buttockz like Niki Minaj!

Sleep sleep sleeeppp... Writing craps even makes me awake. Perhaps next time I should write some horror story to frighten myself to bed. LoL!

Deepest Love,
