Weekend Getaway At The Neem @ Banda Hilir, Melaka

The Neem, Melaka

*~*~*~* Welcome To The Neem *~*~*~*

The Neem, Melaka

As promised earlier today, here's my full account of my weekend getaway at a quaint, boutique resort called The Neem. Located at Banda Hilir, the center of the tourists area, The Neem is indeed a hidden gem. Come, let me bring you for a tour around The Neem.

THE LOBBY
The Neem was once a coconut plantation, and the main house is now converted into the lobby. As you stepped into the lobby, the design of the old living room brings back a nostalgic emotions of my childhood memories.
The Neem, Melaka

Do not expect modern furnitures here. Cupboards, sofa and tables are all uniquely old.

The Neem, Melaka

Decorations are minimal, but yet effective enough to give guests the feel of 'oldness'.

The Neem, Melaka

Registration is also done traditionally. Guests are required to fill in the log book, so, don't be surprised to see no computers here. An additional fun factor of the traditional check in method is...you can see how many guests has been around before you, and you can see who repeatedly came!

The Neem, Melaka

Right in the lobby, there' a souvenir room. Here, you can find some souvenirs to bring home! There's jewelry boxes, handbags, shoes and many more.

The Neem, Melaka

Alright, now we are done with the checking in... Come, lets go explore!

The Neem, Melaka

CHALETS

The biggest chalet in The Neem is Ketapang. Positioned right beside a big, Neem tree, Ketapang can house 6 persons and consists of 2 queen beds + 2 single mattresses.

The Neem, Melaka

pssttt... I sneaked inside the room XD *don't tell anyone yah!*

The Neem, Melaka

Ketapang's spacious bathroom!

The Neem, Melaka

It is so spacious that you can take group photo here LOL!!! SERIOUSLY!

The Neem, Melaka

The 2nd largest chalet is Cocos. Just beside ketapang, Cocos can fit in 4 persons, and within it there's one Queen bed + 2 single mattresses. Both Ketapang and Cocos are located deeper in, and facing the pool.

The Neem, Melaka

Here's how Cocos Chalet looked like...

The Neem, Melaka

For two persons stay, you can opt for Kemboja. I kind of feel attracted to Kemboja because it looks quieter, cosy, and cooling here. Kemboja is located at a corner of the resort, hence, i believe, this chalet is the one with most privacy. Kemboja is also the only chalet I couldn't break into because....it is locked!!! hahaha.. ^.^

The Neem, Melaka

Lastly, is the chalet that I had stayed, Ixora. Ixora is located at the front section. It can fit 2 persons. What's inside Ixora? Check out the next photos =)

The Neem, Melaka

Ixora has a queen bed, and I can say it is fully equipped. Well, they are a ceiling fan, air cond, water heater, LCD TV with Astro (limited channels though). The beds in all rooms come with a traditional mosquito netting, locally called kelambu. Speaking of kelambu, in my childhood, I always wanted to fix a kelambu, but my parents were against it. Anyway, here's my first night with Kelambu, I felt so suffocated and stuffy. I'm not used to kelambu. Thank God someone invented mosquito repellents!
So peeps, if you wanna try sleeping under a kelambu, you should come to The Neem.

The Neem, Melaka

Ixora Chalet is also special that it has two entrance - The front facing the entrance of the resort, and the back, facing the pool.

The Neem, Melaka

Yupz~ there's a pool here. Have i mention it before? *goldfish memory*

The Neem, Melaka

And a trampoline too! Having a go at the trampoline is fun! After I stopped jumping, I went back onto the ground and find my knees go wobbly wobbly wobbly~ Haha.. It is a really strange sensation!

The Neem, Melaka

A day's stay at The Neem includes breakfast, in the morning and tea time, around 4pm. At the Neem, they do not provide dinner, unless it is a special occasion.  During tea time, local delicacies are served along with coffee and tea.

The Neem, Melaka

During my stay there, my friends had booked the all the chalets *LOL* and we had the whole place for ourselves! They all went for supper, leaving me and XeROz having a whale of a time at the pool. It was cool, relaxing, and exciting to be surrounded by the quite nature in the night.

The Neem, Melaka

It was quite a breezy night, and if you don't want to swim, you can sleep by the pool. The sounds and noises of the toads, bugs, beetles and many many more can be heard.  This is one hell of a place that KL can't provide (unless you are filthy rich to pay alot, alot of money for a place like this in KL).

The Neem, Melaka

My opinion about this place?
Pros:- Unique, peaceful and safe, walking distance to Pahlawan Shopping Complex, Mahkota Parade (about 10mins walk). By walking, we actually reduced the time to look for parking, and risk of getting traffic summonses *bad experience*! The stay in The Neem was really nice, with the ever friendly Becky, JK and Patrick that hosted me and my friends.

Cons:-  This is a secret place, hidden in the town area. LOL so you have to be extremely patient to get here. From the Equatorial hotel, there's a forked junction, GO STRAIGHT until you see a very, very small alley on your left with GREEN COLOURED POLES. It is beside the MIA. If you have missed the junction, you have to make a big turn to town and back to the forked junction again. =( There's no other landmarks here, because Melaka is quite congested. So my tips is remember these words:-

Equatorial  * Straight, slow down  * Turn left at GREEN pole

Gosh..I'm telling my secret place so openly~ ahaha..

Because it is back-to-nature kind of accommodation, you have to be mentally prepared for bugs, toads, and even mosquitoes! So bring long trousers/sleeves. Electric repellents and nettings are provided in the rooms. So make sure you close your windows and doors tight!

Improvements:-
Hmm..the only thing I can suggest is that The Neem to provide guests menu for their F&B available. Or at least a blackboard, stating whats for tea/breakfast, and also perhaps, some snacks that we can order. You know, people tend to get hungry very fast on vacations *wakaka* and nearby there's no cafe or any foodstalls T_T

Other than being suffocated inside the kelambu, I had a great stay there! That is why I'm sharing this with you all!

Henry, the price is depends on the chalet size. My ixora room is about Rm300++ but subject to change due to the peak/off peak season.
